Liverpool extends lead with convincing victory over Brentford

Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a convincing 4-1 victory over Brentford. Mohamed Salah, who made his return to action, played a starring role in the match.

The visitors took the lead in the 35th minute when Darwin Nunez capitalized on Diogo Jota's header to score his 13th goal of the season. Alexis Mac Allister doubled Liverpool's advantage in the 55th minute, finishing off a pass from Salah.

Salah then added to his tally by scoring his 19th goal of the campaign, assisted by Cody Gakpo. Ivan Toney pulled one back for Brentford, but Gakpo sealed Liverpool's win with a clinical effort.

Despite the victory, Liverpool suffered injuries to Curtis Jones and Jota in the first half, adding to their list of sidelined players ahead of the League Cup final against Chelsea.

With this win, Liverpool will finish the weekend at the top of the table, although Manchester City and Arsenal have the opportunity to close the gap in their upcoming matches. Liverpool's next match is against Luton at Anfield, while Brentford will face Manchester City.
