Erling Haaland returns in style as Manchester City defeat Burnley 3-1

Manchester City's Erling Haaland made his highly anticipated return after a two-month injury layoff, coming on as a substitute in a 3-1 victory over Burnley. Haaland received a warm reception from the crowd at Etihad Stadium when he replaced Kevin De Bruyne in the 71st minute. De Bruyne, who was making his first start since his own injury, provided a clever assist for Julian Alvarez's second goal. Despite his limited time on the field, Haaland was unable to add to his 14 goals this season. Alvarez's double gives City manager Pep Guardiola a selection dilemma, as he performed well in Haaland's absence. With Haaland and De Bruyne back, Guardiola now has enviable options for his attacking lineup. Guardiola praised De Bruyne's performance and expressed confidence that both De Bruyne and Haaland will contribute to the team's success in the coming months. Alvarez opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a header, and he doubled City's lead by converting a quick free kick from De Bruyne. Rodri added a third goal in the 46th minute, while Burnley managed to score a consolation goal in stoppage time. Guardiola acknowledged Burnley's efforts and praised their manager, Vincent Kompany, who previously captained City and now manages Burnley.
