Darwin Nunez Makes Premier League History with Four Woodwork Strikes in Liverpool's Win

Darwin Nunez made history in Liverpool's 4-1 win against Chelsea by hitting the post or crossbar four times, setting a new Premier League record. This achievement makes Nunez the first player in Premier League history, since Opta records began in 2002, to strike the woodwork four times in a single match.

Nunez's remarkable performance included hitting the post with a first-half penalty and the crossbar with a close-range header in the second half. Additionally, one of his efforts was tipped onto the woodwork by Chelsea goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic. Despite his near misses, Nunez managed to contribute to Liverpool's victory by providing an assist and setting up Luis Diaz's goal, which secured the team's fourth goal of the night.

Nunez's performance against Chelsea showcased his chaotic style of play and his ability to create havoc in Liverpool's attack. His seven goals in the Premier League this season have made him a fan favorite at Anfield, with the Kop even chanting his name after his assist for Diaz's goal. Notably, Nunez has hit the woodwork more than twice as many times as any other player in the league this season.

Prior to Nunez, only four players in Premier League history - Jay-Jay Okocha, Cristiano Ronaldo, Timo Werner, and Leandro Trossard - had hit the post or crossbar three times in a single match.
