Tottenham Hotspur: Premier League's Highest Matchday Revenue Club

A recent UEFA report has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur Football Club generates the highest matchday revenue of any club in the Premier League. The report, released by the governing body earlier this week, highlights the financial success of the north London club.

According to financial expert Kieran Maguire's calculations, Tottenham earns €5.6m (£4.8m) per matchday. This figure takes into account gate revenue, money spent by fans at games, and the costs incurred by clubs to host matches. The impressive revenue figures can be attributed to Tottenham's move to their new stadium in 2019, which boasts a capacity of 62,850, making it the largest Premier League ground in England.

Tottenham's financial success extends beyond the Premier League. Last month, Deloitte's Football Money League revealed that Spurs have become London's richest club, surpassing Arsenal and Chelsea. This achievement is attributed to hosting NFL matches and concerts, including performances by Beyonce.

The UEFA report also compared Tottenham's matchday revenue to other clubs across Europe's top five divisions. Only two teams, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), generate more money per game than Tottenham. Barcelona tops the rankings, earning €7.6m (£6.5m) per game, while PSG follows closely behind with €6.6m (£5.6m) per match.

In the Premier League, Tottenham's matchday revenue places them ahead of Arsenal (£4.2m), who rank fifth, and just behind Bayern Munich (£4.4m) in fourth place. Manchester United and Liverpool occupy the seventh and eighth positions, respectively, with Real Madrid in sixth.

The UEFA report also provides insights into the most expensive squads assembled across Europe. Manchester United leads the list, having spent a staggering £1.2bn in transfer fees prior to the end of the 2023 financial year. City and Chelsea complete the top three, with Real Madrid in fourth place.
