A Tottenham defender has recorded the fastest match speed in the Premier League for the 2023/24 season. According to Sky Sports, the top five fastest players in the league have been revealed, with two Ireland internationals making the cut. Anthony Gordon and Amadou Onana narrowly missed out on the top five. The fastest player last season, Kyle Walker, did not make the list this season. Micky van de Ven of Tottenham currently holds the title for the fastest time this season, clocking in at 37.38 kilometers per hour. Chiedozie Ogbene of Luton and Ireland comes in second with a speed of 36.93 kilometers per hour. Pedro Neto of Wolves takes third place with a speed of 36.86 kilometers per hour. Liverpool and Hungary midfielder is in fourth place with a speed of 36.76 kilometers per hour. Dara O'Shea of Burnley and Ireland follows closely behind in fifth place, reaching a maximum speed of 36.73 kilometers per hour. It is worth noting that the fastest player speed ever recorded in the Premier League was 37.80 kilometers per hour by Kyle Walker in 2020. In comparison, the fastest current professional footballer, Kylian Mbappè, reached a speed of 23.6 miles per hour in a Ligue 1 game, while Usain Bolt, the fastest athlete on the planet, achieved a top speed of 27.4 miles per hour during his world record 100-meter sprint at the 2012 Olympics.
