Seattle Sounders' Ozzie Alonso Returns for Historic One-Day Contract

Seattle Sounders, a Major League Soccer (MLS) team, has recently announced what appears to be the shortest contract in history. The club confirmed that midfielder Osvaldo 'Ozzie' Alonso will be returning to the team. Alonso, who retired from football in January after playing 15 seasons in the MLS and for teams like Minnesota United and Atlanta United, will sign a one-day contract with the Sounders. This unique agreement allows him to formally retire with the club he played 338 times for.

Alonso is considered one of the players who best embodies the values and spirit of the Sounders. Adrian Hanauer, the majority owner of the club, expressed his admiration for Alonso's grit, determination, and leadership. He stated that Alonso's contribution, both on and off the field, played a significant role in the success and legacy of Sounders FC. Hanauer is thrilled to welcome Alonso and his family back to Seattle to honor his remarkable career.

Alonso's journey to the US began in 2007 when he defected from Cuba during the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He is now an American citizen. To commemorate his achievements, a special ceremony will be held during the upcoming MLS game with Austin FC.
