Oliver Glasner: Crystal Palace's New Manager Aims to Revitalize Goalscoring

Oliver Glasner, the newly appointed manager of Crystal Palace, has emphasized his football philosophy centered around goalscoring. Glasner, a 49-year-old Austrian coach, took over from Roy Hodgson on Monday and observed the team's 1-1 draw with Everton alongside club chairman Steve Parish at Goodison Park.

Glasner brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously managed VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, with the latter winning the Europa League in 2022. Crystal Palace has struggled to find the back of the net this season, scoring only 28 goals in the Premier League, placing them among the lowest-scoring teams alongside Sheffield United, Burnley, and Everton.

In an interview with PalaceTV, Glasner expressed his straightforward philosophy, stating that scoring goals is the essence of football. He emphasized that every player starts playing the game with the desire to score and celebrate with their teammates. Glasner believes that this fundamental aspect should never be forgotten, as it is what the fans want to see. He emphasized the importance of fighting and playing together as a team to achieve this objective. Glasner revealed that discussions with the club regarding his appointment had begun earlier in the season, with the initial plan being to start in the summer. However, the opportunity arose sooner than expected, but Glasner assured that it would not significantly alter the team's plans.

Glasner's first match in charge of Crystal Palace will be against Burnley at Selhurst Park on Saturday. This game will provide an early opportunity for Glasner to implement his goalscoring-focused philosophy and make an impact on the team's performance.
