Late equalizer secures draw for Everton against Crystal Palace

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana scored a late equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace. The match took place just hours after Crystal Palace announced Oliver Glasner as their new manager.

In the second half, Jordan Ayew put Crystal Palace ahead with a fine finish, putting Everton in danger of a damaging defeat in their fight for Premier League survival. However, Onana leveled the score with six minutes left, lifting Everton out of the relegation zone.

If Crystal Palace had held on, they would have moved eight points clear of the bottom three. Instead, the gap between Crystal Palace and Luton is now five points.

The draw was a setback for Oliver Glasner, who was appointed as Crystal Palace's new manager after Roy Hodgson stepped down. Hodgson, who had been under pressure, was hospitalized after falling ill during a training session. He decided to step aside to allow the club to bring in a new manager.

Glasner, who previously managed Eintracht Frankfurt, will face the challenge of reviving a team that has only won three of their last 20 games. His first match in charge will be against Burnley on Saturday.

Roy Hodgson, a former England manager and a boyhood Crystal Palace fan, left the club with a legacy of top-flight survival. Palace supporters showed their appreciation for Hodgson with signs thanking him for his service.

Now, it is up to Glasner to build on Hodgson's legacy and ensure that Crystal Palace avoids relegation. The team's performance in their match against Everton showed effort but lacked inspiration. Glasner will need to address fitness and form issues to turn the team's fortunes around.
