Crystal Palace Manager Roy Hodgson Resigns Ahead of Premier League Game

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has announced his resignation just hours before their Premier League game against Everton. Hodgson, who fell ill last week, stated that he made the decision to step aside in order to allow the club to proceed with their plans for a new manager. In a statement, Hodgson expressed his gratitude for his time at the club and his enjoyment of working with top-class players and staff. Palace chairman Steve Parish praised Hodgson's contributions to the club, particularly his role in maintaining their Premier League status. The 76-year-old leaves Palace for the second time in his career after a recent string of defeats that has seen the team slip to 16th in the table. Hodgson spent a total of six seasons at Palace, initially taking over in 2017 and managing 162 games before being replaced by Patrick Vieira in 2021. He returned to the club during the 2022/23 season and oversaw 200 games in total. Reports suggest that former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner will be announced as the new manager. Palace faces a crucial match against Everton on Monday night.
