Brentford FC, fondly known as "The Bees," was formed in 1889 by members of the Brentford Rowing Club who wanted an activity to keep them fit during winter months. The team initially played friendly matches with local rivals before joining the West London Alliance League in 1892, marking their entry into competitive football source.
Their major breakthrough came when they joined the Football League in 1920, finishing fifth in their debut season.
