Arsenal's Impressive Goalscoring and Defensive Form Puts Pressure on Premier League Title Contenders

In recent weeks, Arsenal has been making waves with their impressive goalscoring form, putting pressure on both Liverpool and Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. Over their last six games, the Gunners have scored a total of 25 goals, including a 5-0 win over Burnley and a 6-0 victory against West Ham United.

But it's not just the quantity of goals that Arsenal has been scoring that is noteworthy, it's also their defensive record. In those same six games, Mikel Arteta's side has only conceded three times.

Digging deeper into the numbers, Arsenal's defensive strength becomes even more apparent. Since the start of 2023, they have an expected goals conceded (xG) of just 1.9 in their Premier League matches. This is more than three and a half times lower than Manchester City's 6.8 and significantly lower than Liverpool's ten.

Currently sitting in third place in the Premier League, Arsenal is just one point behind second-placed Manchester City and two points behind leaders Liverpool. With such a small difference, it would only take a slip-up from both teams for Arsenal to seize the top spot.

If Arsenal can maintain their impressive form in front of both their own goal and their opponents', they have a realistic chance of finishing the season as champions.
