Arsenal's Historic Win and Set Piece Success Propel Them to Second Place in Premier League

Arsenal made history in the Premier League with a remarkable performance against Burnley, breaking their own record with 13 games remaining in the season. The Gunners secured a resounding 5-0 victory at Turf Moor, taking the lead early on through captain Martin Odegaard. Bukayo Saka extended the lead with two goals, one from the penalty spot. Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz also found the back of the net, contributing to Arsenal's dominant win.

This victory propelled Arsenal to second place in the Premier League table, a position they maintained after Manchester City failed to defeat Chelsea in the evening kick-off. Notably, Arsenal's goal difference now surpasses that of their title rivals Liverpool and City.

In addition to their impressive win, Arsenal broke a long-standing club record. The Gunners scored 24 goals from set pieces, including penalties, this season, surpassing their previous record of 23 set in the 2004/05 campaign. This resurgence in dead ball situations has been instrumental in their success.

Centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes has been a key contributor to Arsenal's set piece prowess, scoring four goals in his last eight Premier League starts. Furthermore, Arsenal has maintained a perfect penalty record, converting all eight spot kicks awarded to them this season.

Manager Mikel Arteta credited the coaching staff, particularly set piece coach Nico Jover, for their dedication and belief in improving Arsenal's performance in these situations. This strategic focus has undoubtedly paid off, as Arsenal continues to excel in set pieces and penalties, contributing to their recent triumphs.
